An elegant and easy-to-assemble dessert charcuterie board featuring a mix of dark chocolate, fresh fruit, nuts, cheeses, and sweet treats, perfect for entertaining.

Ingredients

  • Dark chocolate bars (e.g., Lindt 70% dark chocolate, Ghirardelli chocolate squares)
  • Chocolate-covered treats (e.g., chocolate-covered espresso beans, dark chocolate truffles)
  • Fresh strawberries (hulled and halved)
  • Fresh raspberries
  • Grapes (red or green)
  • Sliced pears
  • Creamy mascarpone or ricotta cheese
  • Aged gouda or manchego cheese
  • Toasted almonds, pecans, or walnuts with flaky sea salt
  • Mini marshmallows
  • Buttery, lightly salted crackers
  • Almond biscotti
  • Fresh mint leaves
  • Honey or homemade chocolate ganache (for drizzling)

Instructions

  1. Break dark chocolate bars into bite-sized chunks. To make a drizzle, warm ½ cup (120 ml) heavy cream in a small saucepan over medium heat until it simmers, then pour over 4 ounces (115 g) chopped dark chocolate. Stir until smooth and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Rinse strawberries, raspberries, grapes, and pears thoroughly. Hull and halve strawberries, slice pears thinly (toss lightly in lemon juice if prepping early), and keep grapes whole. Arrange on a plate for easy access.
  3. Scoop mascarpone or ricotta into a small bowl, drizzle with a little honey if desired. Slice firmer cheese into thin wedges or cubes. Toast nuts lightly in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-4 minutes until fragrant, then sprinkle with flaky sea salt.
  4. Start by placing bowls of cheese and ganache on the board. Scatter fruit clusters and chocolate pieces around, filling in gaps with nuts, crackers, and sweets. Keep contrasting colors and textures near each other for visual appeal.
  5. Add fresh mint leaves and a light drizzle of honey or chocolate ganache over fruit clusters and cheese.
  6. Bring the board to room temperature before serving to enhance flavors and textures.

Notes

Prepare fruit close to serving time to avoid browning. Toast nuts lightly for enhanced flavor. Keep portions bite-sized for easy sampling. For dairy-free, use coconut yogurt and dairy-free chocolate. For gluten-free, use almond flour crisps or rice crackers. Assemble the board about an hour before guests arrive for flavors to meld.
