A quick and easy homemade strawberry lemonade recipe that blends fresh strawberries and lemons into a refreshing summer drink with a perfect balance of tart and sweet.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 34 medium fresh lemons, juiced (about 3/4 cup lemon juice)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar (adjustable)
  • 4 cups water (divided between cold water and ice)
  • Ice cubes, plenty
  • Optional: fresh mint leaves for garnish or muddling

Instructions

  1. Prep the fruit: hull and slice about 1 cup of fresh strawberries. Juice 3 to 4 medium lemons until you have approximately 3/4 cup (180 ml) of fresh lemon juice. Remove any seeds.
  2. Make the simple syrup (optional): In a small saucepan, combine 1/2 cup granulated sugar with 1/2 cup water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until sugar dissolves completely. Let cool.
  3. Blend the strawberries: Place sliced strawberries in a blender. Add 1 cup cold water and blend until smooth to create a bright pink puree.
  4. Combine ingredients: Pour strawberry puree into a large pitcher. Add freshly squeezed lemon juice, remaining 3 cups cold water, and cooled simple syrup (or stir in sugar directly). Stir well.
  5. Add ice and serve: Add plenty of ice cubes to the pitcher and stir once more. Garnish with fresh mint leaves or thin lemon slices if desired.

Notes

Use ripe strawberries for natural sweetness. Fresh lemon juice is essential for bright flavor. Simple syrup dissolves better than granulated sugar in cold drinks. For a smoother texture, strain the blended mixture before combining. Adjust sweetness gradually to taste. Frozen strawberries can be used but thaw slightly before blending.
