A simple and quick peach dump cake made with just canned peaches, yellow cake mix, and butter, perfect for summer gatherings and last-minute desserts.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (29-ounce) can canned peaches, drained (reserve 2 tablespoons juice if desired)
  • 1 (15.25-ounce) box yellow cake mix
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup or 113 grams) unsalted butter, sliced thinly

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Drain the canned peaches using a fine mesh sieve or colander, reserving about 2 tablespoons of juice if you want extra moistness.
  3. Spread the peaches evenly in a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Sprinkle the dry yellow cake mix evenly over the peaches without stirring.
  5. Slice the unsalted butter into thin pats and distribute evenly over the cake mix.
  6. Bake uncovered for 40–45 minutes until the top is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbling around the edges.
  7. Let the cake cool for at least 10 minutes before serving.

Notes

If the top browns too quickly, tent the pan loosely with foil after 30 minutes to prevent burning. For a gluten-free version, use gluten-free yellow cake mix. Butter slicing is essential for a flaky crust; avoid melting the butter. Use peaches packed in juice rather than syrup to avoid excessive sweetness.
