A light and refreshing caramel apple sangria with cinnamon, perfect for fall gatherings or a cozy evening. This easy recipe uses simple ingredients and is make-ahead friendly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bottle (750 ml) dry white wine (Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc)
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce
  • 1/4 cup apple brandy or Calvados
  • 2 medium apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji), cored and thinly sliced
  • 34 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tablespoon honey or maple syrup (optional)
  • 1 cup sparkling water or ginger ale
  • Fresh apple slices for garnish (optional)
  • Extra cinnamon sticks for garnish (optional)
  • Star anise for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Wash and core the apples, then slice into thin rounds or half-moons about 1/4-inch thick.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the caramel sauce and about 1/2 cup of the white wine until smooth.
  3. Pour the remaining wine into a large pitcher. Add the caramel-wine mixture, apple brandy, and honey or maple syrup (if using). Stir gently to combine.
  4. Add the sliced apples and cinnamon sticks to the pitcher. Stir gently again.
  5. Cover the pitcher and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, ideally 4-6 hours, to allow flavors to meld.
  6. Just before serving, stir in the sparkling water or ginger ale.
  7. Pour into glasses filled with ice, making sure each glass gets some apple slices and a cinnamon stick. Garnish with fresh apple slices, extra cinnamon sticks, or star anise if desired. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, chill the sangria for at least 4 hours. The flavors meld and improve over time. If you don’t have apple brandy, you can skip it, but it adds depth. For a non-alcoholic version, use non-alcoholic white wine or sparkling apple cider and apple juice instead of brandy. Leftovers keep in the fridge for up to 3 days; add fresh sparkling water before serving again.
