Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups shredded cooked chicken (about 280g), rotisserie chicken recommended
  • 1/2 cup buffalo hot sauce (about 120ml), Frank’s RedHot preferred
  • 1 tube crescent roll dough (about 8 oz / 227g), refrigerated
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese (about 115g)
  • 1/3 cup blue cheese crumbles (about 50g), for mixing and topping
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter (about 28g), for brushing dough
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (about 1g)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • For the blue cheese sauce:
  • 1/2 cup mayonnaise (about 120g)
  • 1/4 cup sour cream (about 60g)
  • 1/4 cup blue cheese crumbles (about 40g)
  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice (about 5ml)
  • A few dashes Worcestershire sauce
  • Fresh parsley (optional, finely chopped) for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet or round pizza pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a medium bowl, mix shredded cooked chicken with buffalo hot sauce, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper until evenly coated.
  3. Unroll crescent roll dough and separate into 8 triangles. Cut each triangle into 3 strips lengthwise, creating 24 strips total. Keep pointy ends intact.
  4. Arrange dough strips in a circle on the prepared baking sheet with wide ends overlapping in the center, forming a starburst shape; pointy ends fan outward.
  5. Place a spoonful of buffalo chicken filling on each wide end, then sprinkle cheddar cheese on top.
  6. Fold pointy ends of each strip over the filling and tuck under the wide ends in the center, sealing the filling inside to form a closed ring.
  7. Brush the entire ring with melted butter.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until crescent dough is golden brown and crispy, and cheese is melted and bubbly.
  9. While baking, combine mayonnaise, sour cream, blue cheese crumbles, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce in a small bowl; mix well and chill until serving.
  10. Let the ring cool for 5 minutes after baking. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired and serve warm with blue cheese sauce on the side.

Notes

Do not overload the filling to prevent dough tearing. Use shredded chicken for better mixing and fit. Keep crescent dough cold until assembly. Brush dough with butter for a golden crisp. Bake on middle rack for even heat. Make blue cheese sauce ahead and chill. For gluten-free, substitute crescent rolls with gluten-free puff pastry. Ranch dressing can replace blue cheese sauce if preferred.
