These crispy air fryer garlic parmesan chicken wings are quick, easy, and lighter than traditional fried wings. Perfect for game day or weeknight cravings, they deliver a crunchy, flavorful crust with simple ingredients.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 pounds (about 900g) chicken wings, party wings or drumettes, thawed if frozen
  • 2 teaspoons garlic powder
  • ½ cup (about 50g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • Olive oil cooking spray (enough to lightly coat the wings)
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (optional, for serving)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Pat the chicken wings completely dry with paper towels.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the garlic powder, Parmesan cheese, salt, black pepper, and paprika. Whisk together with a fork to break up any clumps.
  4. Add the dried wings to the bowl and toss well to coat, using your hands to ensure every wing is covered.
  5. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil cooking spray.
  6. Arrange the wings in a single layer in the air fryer basket, leaving space between each wing for air circulation. Cook in batches if necessary.
  7. Spray the tops of the wings lightly with olive oil cooking spray.
  8. Cook at 400°F (200°C) for 12 minutes. Do not open the air fryer during this time.
  9. Flip the wings using tongs and spray the other side lightly.
  10. Cook for another 10-12 minutes, or until the wings are golden brown and crispy. Internal temperature should reach 165°F (74°C).
  11. Remove the wings from the air fryer and let them rest for 2-3 minutes.
  12. Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with lemon wedges if desired.

Notes

For extra crispy wings, let them rest for 5 minutes after the first cook, then spray with more cooking spray and cook for an additional 3-4 minutes. If you don’t have an air fryer, bake on a wire rack at 425°F (220°C) for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway. To keep finished wings warm while cooking in batches, place them on a wire rack in a 200°F (95°C) oven.
