A cozy fall cocktail that combines tequila, fresh apple cider, lime juice, and orange liqueur with a warm cinnamon-sugar rim. It’s quick, easy, and perfect for crisp autumn evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) tequila reposado or blanco
  • 3 ounces (90 ml) fresh apple cider
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice (about half a lime)
  • 3/4 ounce (22 ml) orange liqueur (Cointreau or triple sec)
  • 1/2 ounce (15 ml) pure maple syrup or agave nectar
  • 1 tablespoon granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Ice
  • Optional garnishes: thin apple slices, cinnamon sticks, or star anise

Instructions

  1. Prepare the cinnamon-sugar rim: On a small plate, combine 1 tablespoon granulated sugar with 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Mix until evenly combined.
  2. Rim your glass: Run a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks glass. Dip the rim into the cinnamon-sugar mixture, rotating to coat evenly. Tap off any excess.
  3. Fill the glass with ice: Add large ice cubes to the rimmed glass. Set aside.
  4. Combine ingredients in the shaker: In a cocktail shaker, add tequila, apple cider, lime juice, orange liqueur, and maple syrup.
  5. Shake it up: Add a handful of ice to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15-20 seconds until the shaker feels frosty.
  6. Strain and pour: Strain the mixture into the prepared glass over fresh ice.
  7. Garnish and serve: Add a thin apple slice to the rim or float it on top. Drop in a cinnamon stick for extra aroma. Serve immediately.

Notes

Use fresh apple cider, not apple juice, for the best flavor. Don’t skip the maple syrup—it balances the tartness. Chill your glass before rimming for better adhesion. For a smoky variation, swap reposado tequila for mezcal.
