A warm and comforting peach cobbler made in a skillet with a nutty brown butter cinnamon crumble topping. Quick and easy to prepare, perfect for unexpected guests or cozy nights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 45 medium ripe peaches, peeled and sliced (about 4 cups)
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter, cut into small pieces
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Peel and slice 4-5 ripe peaches to get around 4 cups. Toss them in a bowl with 1/2 cup granulated sugar, 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice, and 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon. Let it sit for 10 minutes to macerate and get juicy.
  3. In your 10-inch skillet, melt 6 tablespoons unsalted butter over medium heat. Keep stirring until it turns a rich golden brown and smells nutty, about 5 minutes. Watch closely so it doesn’t burn.
  4. Remove the skillet from heat. Add 1 cup all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup packed brown sugar, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, 1/4 teaspoon salt, and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract (if using) to the browned butter. Stir until a crumbly mixture forms.
  5. Spread the macerated peaches evenly in the skillet, letting the juices mingle with the browned butter base.
  6. Evenly sprinkle the brown butter cinnamon crumble over the peaches, covering all the fruit.
  7. Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes until the topping is golden brown and crisp, and the peach juices are bubbling around the edges.
  8. Let the cobbler rest for about 10 minutes before serving to allow the juices to thicken.

Notes

If crumble browns too quickly, tent skillet loosely with foil for last 10 minutes of baking. For juicier peaches, sprinkle a splash of water or extra lemon juice before baking. Frozen peaches can be used if thawed and drained well. For gluten-free, substitute flour with almond or oat flour. Vegan option available by using coconut oil or vegan butter and replacing sugar with maple syrup or coconut sugar.
