These no-bake turkey-shaped Rice Krispie treats are a fun and easy Thanksgiving dessert that kids can help make. Made with simple ingredients like marshmallows, butter, and crispy rice cereal, they’re decorated with candy corn, pretzel feathers, and candy eyes for an adorable holiday treat.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups crispy rice cereal
  • Candy corn (for beak and wattle)
  • Mini chocolate chips or candy eyes (for eyes)
  • Pretzel sticks (for feathers, broken in half)
  • Red M&M’s or red jelly beans (for wattle)
  • Non-stick cooking spray

Instructions

  1. Grease your baking dish: Line a 9×13-inch dish with parchment paper, leaving overhang. Spray parchment and dish with non-stick cooking spray.
  2. Melt the butter: In a large microwave-safe bowl, melt butter on high for about 30 seconds until fully liquid but not bubbling.
  3. Add the marshmallows: Pour entire bag of mini marshmallows into melted butter. Stir to coat. Microwave for 1 minute, then stir. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring between each, until fully melted and smooth (about 2-3 minutes total).
  4. Stir in the cereal: Add 6 cups crispy rice cereal to marshmallow mixture. Fold gently with rubber spatula until every piece is coated. Do not overmix.
  5. Press into the dish: Scrape mixture into prepared baking dish. Spray hands with non-stick spray or dip in water, then press mixture firmly and evenly into dish. Do not press too hard.
  6. Let them set: Cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes, or refrigerate for 15 minutes if in a hurry. They should be firm but not rock hard.
  7. Cut the rounds: Lift treats out of dish using parchment overhang. Place on cutting board. Use a round cookie cutter (2.5-3 inches) to cut circles. You should get about 12-15 rounds.
  8. Assemble the turkeys: For each turkey, take one round treat. Insert 3-5 pretzel stick halves into the back, fanning them out like tail feathers. Press gently.
  9. Add the face: Place two candy eyes or mini chocolate chips on the front near the top. Below eyes, press in a candy corn pointy-side-down for the beak. Just below the beak, add a red M&M or red jelly bean for the wattle.
  10. Let everything set: Once all turkeys are assembled, let sit for 10 minutes so decorations adhere firmly. In humid environments, refrigerate for 15 minutes.

Notes

Don’t overheat marshmallows or they’ll crystallize. Keep a bowl of cool water nearby to dip fingers when pressing mixture. Cut rounds while slightly warm (about 30 minutes at room temperature) for clean cuts. Insert pretzel sticks at a slight backward angle for natural feather look. Work in batches when assembling. Store in airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. Do not refrigerate. Can freeze undecorated rounds for up to 2 months.
