Spicy Strawberry Margarita

This spicy strawberry margarita is a vibrant, crowd-pleasing cocktail featuring fresh strawberries, a kick of jalapeño, and tangy lime. It’s quick to make, easy to customize, and perfect for Galentine’s parties, brunches, or summer gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 68 large fresh strawberries, hulled and sliced
  • 1 small jalapeño pepper, thinly sliced (seeds removed for less heat)
  • 2 ounces silver tequila
  • 1 ounce triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 ounce fresh lime juice (about 1 large lime)
  • 3/4 ounce simple syrup
  • Kosher salt & Tajín seasoning (for rimming the glass)
  • Ice cubes (as needed)
  • Optional garnishes: fresh strawberry slices, jalapeño rings, lime wheel, mint sprig

Instructions

  1. Pour a bit of kosher salt and Tajín onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your glass, then dip it onto the plate so it sticks. Set glass aside.
  2. Place sliced strawberries and jalapeño rings in the bottom of your cocktail shaker. Use a muddler (or back of a spoon) to smash everything together until juicy and fragrant—about 30 seconds.
  3. Pour in silver tequila, triple sec, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup.
  4. Add a handful of ice cubes to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 15–20 seconds, until the outside feels frosty.
  5. Strain the margarita into your rimmed glass, filled with fresh ice. Use a fine mesh strainer for a smoother sip, or pour directly for a more rustic feel.
  6. Garnish with a strawberry slice, jalapeño ring, lime wheel, or mint sprig as desired.

Notes

For less spice, use fewer jalapeño slices or remove all seeds. For a sweeter drink, add more simple syrup. Frozen strawberries can be used (thawed first). To make a mocktail, substitute tequila and triple sec with sparkling water and strawberry juice. This recipe is naturally gluten-free and vegan—always check your tequila brand if concerned. Batch mixing is easy: multiply ingredients and use a pitcher.
