A fast, easy, and delicious garlic butter shrimp dinner ready in just 15 minutes, perfect for busy weeknights or last-minute meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound medium or large shrimp, peeled and deveined (thawed if frozen)
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tablespoons freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • Optional: cooked pasta, rice, or crusty bread for serving

Instructions

  1. Rinse the peeled and deveined shrimp under cold water, then pat dry with paper towels. Season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Mince the garlic cloves and chop fresh parsley.
  3. Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and olive oil, letting the butter melt completely but not brown.
  4. Add minced garlic to the pan, stirring constantly for 30-60 seconds until fragrant but not browned.
  5. Add shrimp in a single layer. Cook undisturbed for about 2 minutes until pink on one side, then flip and cook the other side until opaque and slightly firm, about 2-3 more minutes.
  6. Pour in freshly squeezed lemon juice and sprinkle red pepper flakes if using. Stir to coat shrimp evenly and cook for another 30 seconds.
  7. Toss chopped parsley into the pan, stir gently, and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper if needed.
  8. Serve immediately over pasta, rice, or with crusty bread.

Notes

Do not overcook shrimp to avoid rubbery texture. Pat shrimp dry before cooking for a good sear. Use fresh lemon juice for best flavor. Cook shrimp in batches if doubling recipe to avoid overcrowding the pan.
