  • Greek yogurt (plain or lightly sweetened, for dipping fruit)
  • Mini muffins (blueberry, banana, or chocolate chip—homemade or bakery-fresh)
  • Chocolate-covered pretzels
  • Hard-boiled eggs (peeled and sliced, sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning)
  • Mini bagels (plain, everything, or cinnamon raisin—sliced and halved)
  • Smoked salmon (thinly sliced, optional)
  • Sliced cheese (cheddar, gouda, or mozzarella)
  • Turkey or ham slices (folded or rolled)
  • Sliced avocado (drizzle with lemon juice to keep fresh)
  • Cherry tomatoes (halved)
  • Baby spinach or arugula
  • Whipped honey butter (softened butter blended with honey)
  • Cottage cheese (blended smooth for dipping or spreading)
  • Hummus (classic or roasted red pepper)
  • Freshly brewed coffee or espresso
  • Orange juice or mimosa
  • Herbal teas (rose or chamomile)

Instructions

  1. Lay out your clean serving board or platter. If using a wooden board, wipe it down and let it dry completely.
  2. Prepare waffle batter according to your favorite recipe (or use a boxed mix). Pour into preheated waffle maker, cook for 3-4 minutes until golden and crisp. Let cool slightly, then use heart-shaped cookie cutters to shape. (If using frozen waffles, heat as directed and cut while warm.)
  3. Wash and dry all berries and grapes. Slice larger fruits as needed. Arrange in small groups for a burst of color.
  4. Halve mini croissants and bagels for easier grabbing. Lay out in a fan shape or stack for height.
  5. Peel and slice hard-boiled eggs (use an egg slicer for neat rounds). Sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning. Roll or fold turkey/ham slices and place near cheeses. Fan out cheese slices for a pretty look.
  6. Whip cream cheese (or blend with berries/honey for flavor), and spoon into a small bowl. Blend cottage cheese until smooth if desired. Place jams, honey butter, and hummus in ramekins.
  7. Halve cherry tomatoes and slice avocado (drizzle with lemon juice to avoid browning). Add baby spinach or arugula for freshness.
  8. Start with larger items (bagels, croissants, waffles) to anchor the board. Fill gaps with fruit, cheese, and meats. Nestle bowls of dips and spreads in corners or the center. Tuck in veggies and garnish with edible flowers or fresh herbs if you like.
  9. Place chocolate-covered pretzels and mini muffins for a playful touch. Use mini tongs or toothpicks for easy serving.
  10. Brew coffee or espresso, and pour juice or mimosas into glasses. Set alongside the board or on a separate tray.

Notes

Assemble the board up to 1 hour before serving and cover with plastic wrap for freshness. For gluten-free or vegan options, swap in appropriate breads, cheeses, and dips. Prep fruit and dips the night before to save time. Don’t overcrowd the board—less is sometimes more for visual appeal. Drizzle lemon juice on avocado to prevent browning. Use edible flowers or fresh herbs for garnish.
