An easy, crowd-pleasing slow cooker recipe featuring little smokies in a tangy, sweet, and smoky BBQ sauce. Perfect for last-minute hosting or casual gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450 grams) Little Smokies Sausages
  • 1 cup (240 ml) BBQ Sauce (sweet and smoky style recommended)
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Yellow Mustard
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire Sauce (optional)
  • 1/2 teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon Onion Powder
  • 1 teaspoon Hot Sauce (optional, e.g., Tabasco or Frank’s)

Instructions

  1. In a medium mixing bowl, combine 1 cup BBQ sauce, 2 tablespoons brown sugar, 1 tablespoon yellow mustard, 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce, 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder, and 1/2 teaspoon onion powder. Whisk until smooth (about 3-5 minutes).
  2. Pour 1 pound of little smokies into the slow cooker and stir to separate any stuck links.
  3. Pour the prepared sauce over the little smokies and gently toss with a wooden spoon or spatula to coat without breaking the sausages.
  4. Cover and cook on LOW for 2 to 3 hours until sausages are hot, tender, and sauce is thickened to a sticky glaze. Alternatively, cook on HIGH for 1 to 1.5 hours if short on time.
  5. Stir gently every hour to prevent sticking and coat sausages evenly.
  6. Taste the sauce before serving and adjust sweetness or heat by adding more BBQ sauce or hot sauce if desired.
  7. Serve warm directly from the slow cooker or transfer to a serving dish.

Notes

Cook on LOW for full flavor and thick sauce; stirring gently prevents bursting sausages. If sauce is too runny, cook uncovered on HIGH for 10-15 minutes to thicken. Adjust sweetness or heat with additional BBQ sauce, honey, or hot sauce. For gluten-free, verify BBQ and Worcestershire sauces. Can be cooked in a saucepan on low heat if no slow cooker is available.
