Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2/3 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup light brown sugar, packed
  • 1 1/2 tsp pure vanilla extract
  • 1/2 tsp fine sea salt
  • 1 cup mini chocolate chips
  • 23 tbsp festive sprinkles or mini M&Ms (optional)
  • 1/4 cup heat-treated all-purpose flour (or oat flour for gluten-free)
  • Fresh strawberries, sliced
  • Apple slices
  • Graham crackers
  • Vanilla wafers
  • Pretzel twists or rods
  • Mini cookies
  • Marshmallows
  • Decorative candy hearts or chocolates

Instructions

  1. Heat-treat the flour: Place 1/4 cup all-purpose flour in a microwave-safe bowl. Microwave on high for 1 minute, stirring every 15 seconds, until it reaches 165°F. Let cool completely.
  2. Soften the cream cheese and butter: Leave cream cheese and butter at room temperature for 30–60 minutes, or microwave in short bursts until soft but not melted.
  3. Blend the base: In a medium mixing bowl, use an electric mixer to beat the softened cream cheese and butter until smooth and fluffy, about 2 minutes.
  4. Sweeten and flavor: Add powdered sugar, brown sugar, vanilla extract, and sea salt. Mix until fully combined, scraping the bowl as needed.
  5. Incorporate the flour: Add the cooled, heat-treated flour and mix on low until just combined.
  6. Add the mix-ins: Fold in mini chocolate chips and sprinkles or mini M&Ms with a silicone spatula.
  7. Chill (optional): For a firmer dip, chill in the fridge for 30–60 minutes. For a softer dip, serve immediately.
  8. Build your board: Place the bowl of dip in the center of a serving board or platter. Arrange strawberries, apple slices, graham crackers, vanilla wafers, pretzels, mini cookies, marshmallows, and candies around the dip.
  9. Final touches: Sprinkle the dip with extra sprinkles or candy hearts. Add serving spoons or spreaders.
  10. Serve and enjoy: Let everyone dig in and enjoy with their favorite dippers.

Notes

Always heat-treat flour for safety. For gluten-free, use oat flour and gluten-free dippers. For dairy-free, use plant-based cream cheese and butter. Customize mix-ins with white chocolate chips, toffee bits, or dried fruit. Dip can be made ahead and stored in the fridge for up to 4 days or frozen for up to 1 month.
